Admin: Loss of a member

As some of you already know, our wonderful minoanmiss left us on March 3rd. Her loved ones asked us not to make any public announcements for reasons involving her family of origin, but we've been given permission to announce to the community now.

Those here in agonyaunt will remember her for her contributions from Ask A Manager, and her insightful comments on family, found family, and other topics. The wider fannish community will remember her for her amazing fiction and her art, particularly her drawings of Minoan culture. Others will remember her for her amazing fruitcake and other culinary adventures.

sabotabby created this lovely portrait. I think I will try to remember her this way.

Oh no!! I am so sorry to hear this, she always had such lovely insight, and while I didn’t know her well, I held her in the highest regard.

If anyone knows of a scholarship fund or charity to donate to in her memory, I'd love to know. I did not know her IRL (as with so many others here)

Watertown Community Fridge which she cooked for every week, and was cooking for when she went into cardiac arrest
Transfamily Alliance, a resource to teach parents what their kids need on their gender journey.
The Trevor Project
The Greater Boston Food Bank
Mama Dragons (support for LGBTQIA parents and for parents of LGBTQIA kids)

I would have first read her hobbity fics 20-some years ago, and it's amazing to look at her ao3 profile now and see over 700 works. A life splendidly spent.

I always liked seeing her comments here and elsewhere on Dreamwidth.

The fact that her death seems so sudden/unexpected/out of the blue/without warning, makes it even sadder. :(

I never interacted with her much anywhere but here, but she was such a core of both this community and of everywhere in fandom she took part - and it must have been the same in her real life community. She will be so, so missed. She made everywhere she was better.

Very sorry to hear of her passing. I only knew her through this space, and barely at that, but she made a significant enough impression with her wisdom and contributions that her loss has been felt <3
