agonyaunt, a community for discussion of advice columns. Please note, we are not an advice community, but rather a place to post and discuss questions and advice given by others.
A standard post should involve posting one or more questions and answers from a published advice column. You may add your own thoughts a comment or just post to see what others think.
Procedures and Rules:
1. Please post the entire text of the question and answer in your post. You may link back to the original column as well, but we'll get better discussion if the text is here.
2. Please put your own response in a comment rather than the post, so that there is no confusion over who said what.
3. Please cut longer entries.
4. Please cut potentially triggering material, particularly those involving sexual assault and abuse, and indicate potential triggers in the cut. If you're not sure if what you're posting could be triggering, err on the side of cutting.
5. Comments may address the situation in the letter, the advice given, or larger issues raised by the question/advice.
6. No personal attacks. This doesn't mean you can't criticize a commenter's ideas. It does mean you should refrain from name-calling while doing it.
7. Posters and commenters are expected to refrain from language that is racist, sexist, ableist, heterosexist, cissexist, sizeist, ageist, etc. It is perfectly fine to criticize someone's behavior. It's not fine to do so in language that smears an entire group of people.
8. The mod reserves the right to intervene if behavior, while not specifically violating these rules, is proving disruptive to the community. I will attempt to resolve the matter in a way that best serves everyone's interests, but ultimately, if I tell you to knock something off, knock it off.
