Hell, even if Liza had been consulted, like for real, it's entirely possible that she would've thought "Yes, I really would like this dog!" and then when confronted with the reality of the dog realized that no, she did not. It's a thing that happens, and while it certainly isn't ideal it's not like returning a baby to the cabbage patch - you can rehome the animal without incurring too much of a moral penalty so long as you don't do it habitually.
