Okay, while it's true this isn't something you should ask a guest to do, "can you help me put on the new roof?" or "can you help me build a deck?" or something are totally OK things to ask *family* to do when they visit, if they are that kind of family. But! "Help" is the operative word here. They are here to spend time with you, not to be shoved off in the back pasture with a chore list. If it matters to you how the task is done, LW, you should be doing it with them. (It sounds like what is actually going on here is that the guests come to stay but LW and family are so "busy" they don't actually make any time for them and they're spending pretty much the whole time alone at the house? In which case, LW, you're lucky they didn't get so bored they picked their own paint colors.)



4. There is so much missing from this letter, I don't know if it's even "reasons" exactly. But there's an implication here that the granddaughters didn't even know LW until the last few years? And now the granddaughters are being "forced" to visit a lot (possibly without parents along?) Like, I feel like the Beanie Babies are not the actual issue here.

(Also, LW, your beanie babies aren't actually worth anything. I promise. Even if you lucked into having one of the ultra rare ones, it is not going to make an inheritance for your granddaughters. There are issues here other than the granddaughters too.)
