I suspect that Prudence was trying to be black-and-white for a LW on the spectrum, but I think a better answer would have said, “Have you weighed the amount of support you can provide by being there for your husband?” LW’s concerns (emotional bracing to meet uncaring bigots, budget) are still valid counterweights.
