True, but I was pissed off by the starting point that OP is blamed for making the mistake of marrying someone "hoping to change them" when it sounds from the letter as if the husband was the one who did change after marriage or at least leaving their home town: stopping "masking" and starting self-medicating (presumably with pot.)
