I...am kind of with Annies' first comment, here. While you can kind of read a denial in between the lines ("never check to see whether it was true"), I find it really, really, really odd that, "this accusation is utterly false" was not the very next sentence after, "told them I molested my son when he was 5." I mean, that would be my first sentence if I were writing in about someone falsely accusing me of stealing a pencil, much less molestation. Further, the LW doesn't say anything about the "32-year-old gossip" and how or why it originated.

I am not saying the LW is guilty, but the letter just does not sit well in my gut.
