If the dog is really at the end of its life then I actually 100% understand that decision to prioritize spending time with it and its health needs rather than taking long trips.

(Not that it's reasonable to ask Daughter to put the dog's needs anywhere on their home-buying priority list, but I totally understand why LW is putting them so high.)
