Huh. I feel like there's someone's input into this situation that would be helpful, if only they existed. Wouldn't it be nice if the uncle had a sibling who LW knew? Especially if LW saw the uncle's sibling regularly and could say "hey, is your brother intentionally being a dickweed here, or is it a joke that I'm not the audience for?" It just seems like that would be someone who'd be deeply familiar with the family dynamics and could weigh in.

But clearly that person doesn't exist, because LW doesn't say what they think about the matter.
