1. LW does not have a MIL problem. LW has a husband problem. LW needs to stop letting this woman inside their home. If Husband won't go along with that, LW needs to tell him it's counseling or a divorce attorney.
That, or get used to letting MIL run the show, I guess.
2. The columnist should've pointed out that you can't change people's minds for them and shouldn't try. This is a surprisingly common superstition - though I've mostly heard it from Jews, I haven't only heard it from them - and it's well-meant. Stop talking to her about the plans until the baby arrives and ignore her.
3. I'm astonished that LW lets their parents anywhere near their kids if the stress gives them migraines. They need to tell their partner to tell the inlaws to stop pestering LW about their relationship with their own parents because it is none of their business.
4. Carolyn is right - do not marry this dude until and unless he cuts those apron strings.
5. Grandparents will say any old bullshit, won't they, when they clearly ought to be saying nothing at all. On a schedule at one month! Okay, sure - and I see that they and Husband expect LW to be the one to do all the heavy lifting here? Don't make me laugh. If Husband is so in love with a schedule, he should've married one. In the meantime, if he wants the baby to be on one oh so much then he can do it. LW can tell him that with no fear - no way he's going to follow through.
