One thing I have noticed over time is that much of the time "I don't like this" means "I find the sensations this produces unpleasant to unendurable" It is somewhat well known that many people are irritated by the flickering and other aspects of fluorescent lights.
Another thing I have noticed is how much people are willing to extend benefit of the doubt to others in their lives, and the conflict between rules and actual people. I noticed the latter in American Evangelical Christianity, which is extremely focused on rules as ascendant over human contradictions, and whose philosophies extend much further int US culture than people often expect.
Also LW needs to get over his judgy little self. I don't know if I hope more that he actually learned some mental flexibility or that she left him.
