I assume the context is in "investment property"; if Sister lives in an area with a housing shortage exacerbated by absentee owners buying up properties and listing them on AirBNB or simply holding them vacant for years on the speculation that they can later resell them at a higher price (a serious issue near my parents), I can certainly understand her being less than thrilled at LW and LW's boyfriend joining the trend.
