Imho there are 2 victims here: LW obviously, and Lia. Because I don't think Lia is getting these ideas from TV or books. I suspect it's coming from someone close to her, someone who Lia believes and trusts. I think LW and SIL need to find out ASAP, how Lia has gotten the idea that LW will hurt and kidnap her.
SIL and LW's husband both need to take LW's concerns seriously here. SIL is in the midst of a divorce; if it's not amicable, it wouldn't be the first time an acrimonious ex tried to strike back through their child, and this is a particularly horrible way to do so. Even if the divorce has nothing to do with it, bottom line is, if Lia's accusations in public are taken too far, it won't only be LW in trouble. LW's husband and their child will be caught up in it too, simply by association.
