I would not be so sure that all this arguing didn't hurt LW's husband. Regardless, it was a tactical error to tell them to be quiet around the grandkid for the child's sake. LW and Husband, together, should've told them to get their act together because literally nobody else in the world wants to hear those two bicker.

But LW and Husband need some serious therapy if they're going to work this out. I'm not sure it'll help at this point.

Other than that, LW's plan of leaving immediately as soon as the inlaws begin their daily squabble is solid.
