I'm going to take a minute to focus on the good here:
1. LW is aware that it is her thoughts and feelings that are the problem, not her son and his boyfriend, and would like to change those thoughts and feelings.
2. She appears to have made some effort towards not dumping those feelings all over her son.
Which is the smallest of the babysteps, but it's not nothing. If LW follows Amy's advice then she's got a chance of becoming a better person.
