Due to the statistics around the truly massive waste of clothing, I think the advice is wrong. I know there are fewer plus sized clothing options available, but I'm not convinced of the idea that if small people refrained from remaking large garments, this would definitely cause said large garments to always go to the correct people and never go to landfill.
