I have a hopefully funny story for you. When I was about ten I said to my parents, "WHY did you move from one English speaking country to another?! All of my friends are from Korea or China or Puerto Rico! Everyone is bilingual except me!" Fortunately they thought this was hilarious, and looking back at how much harder it would have been if I'd had to learn English atop all the cultural mismatches I can't help but snicker at my younger self.
