Yes, THIS. Upthread I asked [personal profile] ermingarden about some relevant differences in legal terminology ("hate speech" versus "assault" which at the time of this writing I understand legally to be a certain category/ies of threatening speech that is a crime), but the lived experience thing is that a constant flood of pick-pick-pick, of little things, of microaggressions is... just what you say.

And... IMO, this doctor having lucked out with this particular patient, maybe it is an opportunity for the hospital, or (if that's allowed) for particular practitioners or practices within the hospital, to lay out some policies about the conditions under which they will deny service to a potential patient up front? (Another thing I mentioned in my comment to [personal profile] ermingarden is an example of a health care facility with which I'm familiar which has a posted policy about the terms and conditions under which staff can refuse/discontinue care/have someone removed from the building, and I don't remember the specifics, but there was definitely something in there about something along the lines of verbally harassing the staff.)
