I teach a lot of farm kids, and I winced reading this. The independent family farm is vanishingly rare, and are certainly not a path to financial security. Most of what we consider "family farms" are tied in some substantial way, including ownership, to a big corporate system. If LW tries to set up this farm as independently, family-owned, well...good luck.
