There's a difference between people talking about their unshared interests, which can be fun and fascinating, and that one person who can talk about nothing but their new dizzy-in-love thing. There is absolutely nothing wrong between being dizzy-in-love with something! But it can be easy to lose any sense of audience with that stuff. Like, Fellow Gamer X will probably like hearing about my RPG. Colleague Y will probably not, unless they're the colleague who is in my game ;). And even with Fellow Gamer X, I should watch how often I bring up my game at the slightest pretext. And I mean, hey: this is one reason I don't socialize much outside of general geek circles. It limits some relationships, but it also limits how often I have to sit in a group of people who will talk baseball stats for hours and have absolutely no interest in the latest season of Batwoman
