I think it's okay to comment on what someone eats if
a) you know they're violently allergic to something
"Hey, did you know X had peanuts in it?"
b) they're celiac and may not realise something has gluten in it
c) they're vegan/vegetarian/Halal/Kosher and may not realise something doesn't meet their restrictions
d) there has been a widespread health warning about food poisoning for eg oysters that week
...that's about it.
