I would like to send a big ol "F YOU" to both the LW and Amy, here.
Because the employee is doing a couple of things here:
She is presuming that her life outside work is equally important to her as work.
She is presuming that she deserves to be treated like a person.
She is treating her PTO as a right, which it absolutely is.
And she is putting the manager in a position to having to find a reason to deny her request that is more meaningful than an arbitrary "sorry but I think we'll need you in the office."
This employee is my fuckin' HERO, and this workplace needs a union yesterday.
