Well, and even if they are, they're kind of necessary if people want their basic needs and way of life to continue into their middle and older ages. Before I had a kid, I did a lot of "banking" labor by taking the super-early classes parents couldn't and subbing and doing committee work, all those sorts of things. I'm not suggesting people without children have to endlessly give to parents, but the whole "why do I have to pay taxes for schools when I don't have kids" crap drives me up a wall.
