Yeah, he is absolutely not going to get hired in tech unless: (1) he has multiple important patents or RFCs to his name, or (2) he's been doing open source work, freelancing, keynotes, or presentations. And if either of those were true, the LW would have said something. His only other choice would be a big name old friend who hires him out of pity, but honestly those people have known him for the same twenty years and they won't do it either. At best he might get hired to teach CS in a high school or something, but his knowledge is twenty years out of date, so nothing better.
